Ukwenza Mosaics (“To make mosaics”) was born out of a desire to create distinctly South African mosaic art.
| Ukwenza Mosaics is the brainchild of Kirsty Fletcher, a graphic designer and mosaic artist. Kirsty has been mosaicing since 2004, the company was formed after she created her commercial range of mosaiced African masks. The masks are unique as each piece is crafted by hand. Each mask is signed and numbered and only a limited number will ever be made of each design. Click here to view gallery. |

“I wanted to create something that is unique, colourful and reflects the African spirit of artistic diversity”
Due to demand, Kirsty has now started offering mosaic courses. Courses run every Saturday for a full day and students are given the option of a range of items that they can make. Focus is not only on technique but on allowing students to explore their creative potential. Click here to view the student’s gallery.
Kirsty also started and manages a popular site called www.mosaicpatternsonline.com. The site provides mosaic patterns for those who would like to either buy or download free patterns for mosaic projects that they would like to do themselves.
