Grouting |
|
| Grouting: |
| Grouting is the mix of sand and cement that goes
between the tiles. |
| Do not underestimate the impact the color of the grout will
make on your piece. It will either make or break your mosaic creation. Grouting
unites the mosaic and highlights the way the tiles have been laid. |
| You can get pre-mixed grout but rather buy the powdered
form. It’s easy to mix and you can experiment. |
| There are 2 types of grout, sanded and unsanded. If the spaces
between your tessarae are bigger than 1/8 inch use the sanded grout. When you mix
grout, the right consistency is generally that of peanut butter or thick
mayonnaise. Mix carefully so that there are no lumps in the grout and if you add
color to your grout, make sure that you make enough grout in the first batch for
your mosaic. It is very difficult to try matching a color again. |
